Swami Vivekananda On Hinduism
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA'S inspiring personality was well known both in India and in America during the last decade of the nineteenth century and the first decade of the twentieth. The unknown monk of India suddenly leapt into fame at the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893, at which he represented Hinduism. His vast knowledge of Eastern and Western culture as well as his deep spiritual insight, fervid eloquence, brilliant conversation, broad human sympathy, colourful personality, and handsome figure made an irresistible appeal to the many types of Americans who came in contact with him. People who saw or heard Vivekananda even once still cherish his memory after a lapse of more than half a century.
Here you can read through his speech at the World Parliament of Religions and also listen to his voice. Hope you enjoy...

An important Note
We have come to another country in search of education, Job, money leaving behind our own people whom we are grown up with. We all have different backgrounds, families and experiences.
I agree we all have different ideas of our mother land. Some of us are proud of our nation’s rich and varied heritage. Some of us are proud of our raising GDP and recent changes of rates of developments and growing international importance. Some of us are proud of raising comfort levels among the middle class as felt by us at our home places.
But we also have a large chunk of ourselves who are discontented with what is rampant there. Like Corruption, politics, caste system, poverty, illiteracy, violence, governments' inactivity and fraud. Yes, we are here for money, comfort and good job. Where ever we go, whatever we do, we are Indians. We accept it or not, we are Indians. Don't you have a responsibility?
In the context of deteriorating value systems in the contemporary world, I would like to tell you, we used to have a great respect towards our parents. I said "we used to" because there are a lot of instances after the so called westernization has occurred in India that parents are left to their plight. Even westerns don’t do that so often. I don’t know how that crept into our culture.
Coming back to the point, this value of respecting parents begets another great responsibility of respecting your country. You may not respect it but protect it. Help it to grow in the right way. After all that is where you grew up the whole life, even if you are not grown up there that is where you belong to. World recognizes you by that name. Your culture even after being a lot westernized has its roots in there.
You can't be an American or a British even if you cultivate a whole lot of their habits. You are still called an Indian. People generally give their life for the sake of their nations and we now have youngsters who can talk a lot bad and try to disown our nation?????
Don't make a move back thinking you could be the only one moving forward. Doesn't a population that big find a companion for you?
THINK again for your country. Lets US make Our India Better place to live, thus contributing to the whole new world. Let us not increase the differences between nations.
Join together.
Pledge Today.

"Heal The World" - Make A Better Place
"There's A Place In Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place
Could Be Much Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow"
"There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place..."
There's A Place In
Your Heart
And I Know That It Is Love
And This Place Could
Be Much
Brighter Than Tomorrow
And If You Really Try
You'll Find There's No Need
To Cry
In This Place You'll Feel
There's No Hurt Or Sorrow
There Are Ways
To Get There
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
Make A Better Place...
Heal The World
Make It A Better Place
For You And For Me
And The Entire Human Race
There Are People Dying
If You Care Enough
For The Living
Make A Better Place
For You And For Me
If You Want To Know Why
There's A Love That
Cannot Lie
Love Is Strong
It Only Cares For
Joyful Giving
If We Try
We Shall See
In This Bliss
We Cannot Feel
Fear Or Dread
We Stop Existing And
Start Living
Then It Feels That Always
Love's Enough For
Us Growing
So Make A Better World
Make A Better World... -- Heal The World--
And The Dream We Were
Conceived In
Will Reveal A Joyful Face
And The World We
Once Believed In
Will Shine Again In Grace
Then Why Do We Keep
Strangling Life
Wound This Earth
Crucify Its Soul
Though It's Plain To See
This World Is Heavenly
Be God's Glow
We Could Fly So High
Let Our Spirits Never Die
In My Heart
I Feel You Are All
My Brothers
Create A World With
No Fear
Together We'll Cry
Happy Tears
See The Nations Turn
Their Swords
Into Plowshares
We Could Really Get There
If You Cared Enough
For The Living
Make A Little Space
To Make A Better Place...
Heal the World) X 3
There are people X2
For you and for me X 5

Welcome (సుస్వాగతం)
For an Index of posts in this blog click on the above picture.
సుస్వాగతం

The Supreme Being was described by saints as 'Satyam-Sivam-Sundaram'. "Satyam" which is True & Existent - "Sivam" which is benevolent & Magnanimous - "Sundaram" which is Blissful & Beautiful. It is also defined as Sat-Chit-Ananda which means that The Absolute Being is the unbound happiness (Ananda) you get from knowing (Chittha) the real and everlasting truth (Sathya), The God.
Sathyam is the feet, Sivam is the trunk and Sundaram the head. On Sathyam (Truth) we should stand, as Sivam (Benevolent) we should be and should have a thought that is Sundaram (Beautiful and Delightful). Hope this blog will at least on a few occasions prompts you to be truthful, benevolent and to have a beautiful mind.
I welcome you all. I expect most of the visitors to this blog would be able to understand English and hence I would write this introduction in English. Other languages that might be seen in my blog are Telugu(తెలుగు) and Hindi (हिन्दी).
I wrote this introduction about an year after I started this blog. B'coz I thought there should at least one post which welcomes and introduces you all to the blog.
This blog, though primarily started as an exploratory venture, later it became a passion, then an addiction, then a compulsion, then an asset and an object of self-complacency. After all said and done, what so ever I feel about my blog, I do get visitors searching for something they want, which they get to have it in my blog.
Basically, what all my blog has, are the things I have a personal passion for. I feel any Indian (or a Telugu fellow) would have more or less similar kind of likes and dislikes that I have. Anyway, I hope this blog would help you all in some way or the other and would inspire you all to be responsible citizens.
